New Cover

The cover for DEEP IN THE HEART OF TROUBLE has been released.  The folks at Bethany House sent it to me mid-Septmeber and I've been chomping at the bit to show it to you.  But, I'm not allowed to unveil it until it is officially released.  It's been listed on CBD, so I guess it's official!

Well ... here she is.  What do you think?

Gobble-Gobble

Our son's fiancee brought these fun cookies to our Thanksgiving celebration.  They were so adorable that I immediately placed them around the centerpieces of both tables and they stole the show.

One-by-one they have been disappearing and we only have three left.  So, I thought I'd better take a picture and share them with you before they were all "gobbled" up.

And, yes, our son is engaged.  It's the big news around here.  He proposed to his girlfriend on our cruise this summer.  I'll give you the whole story along with pics either this week or next.  (We're soooo thrilled.  We absolutely LOVE her!)

Hairspray

I don't know if you've seen it, but Hairspray comes out on DVD tomorrow (Nov 20).  It is a fun musical set in the early 60s about a TV teen variety show that becomes integrated.  John Travolta is plays the mother of the ingénue and is hilarious. (See picture below)  Christopher Walken is at the top of his game.  The ingénue, Nikki Blonsky, is a newcomer that is a delight and has one of the purest voices I've heard in a long, long time.  Her love interest, Zac Efron, completely charmed me. If there are any X-Man fans out there, the TV show host is James Marsdon (Cyclops--in picture on the left) and you would not believe the singing voice on that fella.

The music and lyrics for this are the best I've heard since Disney's Beauty & the Beast and Aladdin.  Singing, dancing, numerous laugh-out-loud moments.  Great stuff.

It's PG, so parents with young children might preview it first before sharing it with the family.  But I loved it and bought the soundtrack the day after I saw the movie in the theatres and can't wait to go buy the DVD tomorrow.

Has anybody else seen it?

Takin' a Walk on the Cold Side

 Hey, Everybody.

I'm heading to South Dakota for the week.  I'm meeting with my critique partner, Mark Bertrand, to go over a few things.  So, I won't be able to blog until next week.

I'll try to pop in over at the Chat Room, though.  So, I'll see you there.

80s Day

It's "80s Day" at the high school and guess where I found my daughter preparing for it?  In MY closet.

"I don't have anything from the eighties anymore," I said.

She lifted an eyebrow, plucked several things off the rack and next thing I know, I'm eattin' crow.

I'm A Grandma!

Our 19 yo son got a puppy!  Her name is Steve Rogers (aka. Captain America).  She is 8 weeks old, was at the animal shelter and scheduled for euthanasia the very next day.  We think she might be a black lab/German sheperd mix, but we won't really know until she grows some.  She has the sweetest disposition you ever did see.  And is such a lover.  I absolutely adore her.  It is all I can do not to call my son every day and ask if Steve Rogers can come over and play.  But, I have work to do and he has class, so I have managed to restrain myself.

Our dogs are not too sure what to think about this newcomer, but I'm sure once they realize they aren't being replaced (like Woody and Buzz Lightyear), that all will be well.  Below are more pictures of my precious grandbaby.  I've been trying to teach her how to say "Granny" but so far all she can say is "Arf."
