Poison Ivy

I went on a hike with my sister and one of the persons with us pointed out the poison ivy on this tree. I had NO idea that poison ivy made itself into this vine-like thing, did you? I always thought it was just the three-leafed green plant.

Seeing this made me realize how it was that my husband might have gotten such a bad case of poison ivy a few years back. He was helping clear some land of his brothers and within days he was covered with poison ivy. Terrible pain and itching. I felt so sorry for him, but was also somewhat exasperated for him being so careless. But he kept saying he never saw it.

Now, I'm wondering if this might be the kind of thing he ran into. What about you? Have you ever had it? Did you know it did this when it matured?

Westward Ho!

Our son and his wife moved to California. Why? Because they can!

He can do his web design anywhere, so they loaded up a U-Haul and off they went to seek their fortunes.

It was the first time our son had driven a big truck like this:

They hitched his car to the back of the U-Haul. Our daughter-in-law drove hers. They kept each other right in their sights:

As you can see above, things started out pretty flat in Texas. But the closer they got to California, the more the landscape began to change:

They got there safe and sound, then they began unloading ...

And unloading ...

They are sharing a place with their cousin (my nephew) and his wife (on the right). Here they are trying out the dinner table with a good friend.

We miss them already!
