New Romantic Suspense
The cover of my upcoming Romantic Suspense, BEGUILED, has been unveiled! Isn't it FABULOUS! I just LOVE this cover. (For a larger view, right click and open in a new window.)
This book marks a lot of firsts for me. It was the first time I'd ever collaborated on a novel. The first time I'd ever written a romantic suspense. The first time I'd ever written a contemporary. And the first time I'd ever written two books in one year!
In the historic district of Charleston, a dogwalker is the prime suspect in a string of robberies which take place in her clients' multimillion dollar homes. A star crime reporter covering the robberies for the local paper uncovers more and more condemning evidence and must ultimately choose between the story of his life and the woman of his dreams.
The book is due to be released February 1st, but my guess is it will be in stores by January.
I remember back in April of 2008 when I first told you about the suspense. My cowriter, J. Mark Bertrand, sent me this mock cover depicting his feelings about the collaboration:
Here's a video where he tells why he was so confounded:
LOL. When we get closer to the release date, I'll give you a peek at a few more questions that we answered, but which weren't included in this clip.
Also, this is the book that I ran a pet contest for last November. The book is still in the editorial stages (I know, it takes a LONG time to publish a book!). When we get the galleys (my final look at the book before it is printed), then I'll feel comfortable notifying the winners and revealing whose pets will make an appearance in BEGUILED. I expect to have the galleys sometime during the holiday season.
Until then, BEGUILED can be preordered at CBD, amazon, Bethany House or where ever you like to shop best!

Our Storycasting.com contest has come to a close. For a while we were the top 4 books cast in the last 30 days. Great job, everyone! Rae from Georgia is our GRAND PRIZE WINNER of an autographed hardback of A Bride in the Bargain! Congrats, Rae!
I have to tell you, I am sooo excited for Susie. She was my roomie at RWA last year (she didn't make it to the RITA ceremony this year) and she is one of my most favorite persons. Congrats, Susie!
Here are some pics from this year's RITAs with finalists, Robin Lee Hatcher & Rachel Hauck; Fellow Bethany House author, Siri Mitchell; And some special fans, Leslie and her mother, Mary:
My husband surprised me by flying up to D.C. so he could be with me at the ceremony. I can't BELIEVE I didn't get any pictures with him or with my editor, Dave! I'm so mad at myself. Oh, well, they were there and it was wonderful!
