Winner of COURTING TROUBLE
We have our next winner in the "Leave A Comment" Contest. Congratulations go to Dorothy from Oklahoma. She's a pretty swingin' gal because she has her own MySpace page!! I went over and saw pics of her man, her kids and her grandkids. She has a "count down" clock to when the next grandbaby is due and I noticed her favorite romance is Jude Deveraux's A Knight in Shining Armor--which is one of my favorites, too! I haven't read it in years, but seeing it on her MySpace makes me want to run to the store and see if I can find a copy.
Meanwhile, we will keep our contest going. We will start all over today and if you leave a comment between now and our next drawing (probably in a couple of more weeks), you, too, will be eligible to win an advanced copy of COURTING TROUBLE.
So ... congrats to Dorothy and good luck to everyone else!
P.S. One of our regulars (Sandy) included me in her Hospitatlity Highlights that she is doing on her blog. Check it out here.

Guess What!?!
The Measure of a Lady has been nominated for the RITA award!! I'm sooooo excited. This award is given out by Romance Writers of America and is the highest award of distinction in the secular romance industry.
All the books nominated are romances, but they have been broken up into different categories (contemporary, historical, suspense, inspirational, best first book, etc.). LADY was, of course, nominated in the inspirational category. My fellow-Bethany-House-author, Tamera Alexander, was nominated THREE times!! (Two in Inspirational, One in Best First Book). So, I am particularly thrilled for her.
The competition is fierce, so it will be really hard to win, but I am just so excited and honored to have been nominated. Here is the full list of Inspirational nominees:
Revealed by Tamera Alexander
Bethany House Publishers
Rekindled by Tamera Alexander
Bethany House Publishers
Be My Neat-Heart by Judy Baer
Harlequin Enterprises, Steeple Hill Love Inspired
A Family Forever by Brenda Coulter

Ten Thousand Charms by Allison Pittman

My So-Called Love Life by Allie Pleiter

Winners will be announced at a big award banquet in Dallas on July 14th. Best of luck to all the nominees!
P.S. We'll be picking a new winner soon, so don't forget: If you leave a comment, you'll be eligible to win an advanced copy of COURTING TROUBLE.

Breakfast In Bed
Greg brought me breakfast in bed. No special occassion, other than I'd been feeling a bit under the weather. So, in he comes with a half-a-grapefruit. He'd pre-cut each individual section and made a ring of bananas and peaches around the entire thing--topping it all off with a grape. Beside that was a teeny-weeny fork to eat it with.
Just as I finished this, he whisked that away and replaced it with a fried egg and homemade blueberry muffins (that he'd made because they are my favorite). Is that just the sweetest thing ever?
Mommies never get sick and when they do the whole household takes notice. But my man has really come through this time, waiting on me hand and foot. So sweet. How can I not get better with that kind of TLC??
P.S. Remember: If you leave a comment you will be eligible to win an advance copy of COURTING TROUBLE.

New Years Resolution--1 Down, 3 To Go
Back in January 2006, I made a list of New Year's resolutions. One of them was to clean out and organize my pantry with all those cool Tupperware containers. Needless to say, it never got done. So, I moved that item onto my 2007 New Year's Resolution list.

Well ... recently Tupperware had a 40% off sale on their pantry modulars, so I decided the time was right. I started on a Friday around 7:00pm pulling everything out of the pantry. I worked until midnight. Then got up the next day and worked from first thing in the morning until midnight before finally finishing the entire project. Part of what took so long was all the cleaning. Then, I found stuff from, like, 2002 in there. Gross!!
Last, I discovered the Tupperware containers were not clear, but cloudy. So, I ended up having to label everything. I knew we had lots of cereal and chips, but I think anybody who has eleven different kinds of chips in their pantry needs to put their teenagers on a tighter leash. Wouldn't you say?

The million dollar question now is: Will the kids put the lids back on after they add or remove something from these containers?
The answer? THEY HAD BETTER!!!
Well ... I'm off to look at what else I had on my New Year's Resolution list. How's yours coming along?

Our Daughter Wants To Be A Model
For years our daughter (now 17) has wanted to be an actress/model when she grew up. Greg and I have such mixed feelings about this. It can be such a decadent lifestyle and career choice. It doesn't have to be, mind you. But it would be a tough road to hoe and we were secretly hoping she'd change her mind.
So, to buy us time, we said things like: "Let's see what kind of schedule you have in high school."
When it was evident her schedule would allow it and her grades were fabulous, we said: "When you're sixteen, we'll talk about it."
When she turned sixteen we said: "Let's wait until your braces come off."
Well, her braces are due to come off and she hasn't changed her mind. And, truthfully, she has gifts and talents in this area. So, Greg and I talked to her about using her gifts and talents to glorify God and what that means. She stopped just short of rolling her eyes because she understands all about that. She feels certain she can do that and act/model, too.
What could we say? So, when she heard about an audition that she really wanted to go to, we said, "Okay."
Thing was, she had to bring her "portfolio" with her to the audition. We, of course, didn't have a portfolio. So, she and I went out and got her a temporary one (because we'll have to do this all over again once her braces come off.)
I've pasted some of the pictures from her photo shoot here. Others, I put in my scrapbook.

Well, she went on her audition. And though she didn't get the part, they were very enthusiatic about her and want to see her again. (This was for an acting position.) Meanwhile, she has a modeling agency that has already offered to represent her as soon as we let her loose.
Sigh. It's so hard to let go sometimes. But, I've given all my kids to God. Now, I guess it's time to put my money where my mouth is.

And We Have A Winner!
Well, we have a winner for our "Leave A Comment" Contest. As you know, if you left a comment on my blog between the dates of February 15th and now, you would be eligible to win an Advance Reader's Copy of COURTING TROUBLE.
The computer randomly selected a name and our winner is ... "Deb"
Congratulations, Deb! The rest of you ... don't despair, though.
As it turns out, the publisher sent me more than one Advanced Copy. So if you'd like, we can keep the contest going until the real books are shipped in May. How does that sound? We should have time for two more winners, I think.
So ... leave a comment and maybe you'll be the next one!

Out of the Office
I know many of you have had a terrible winter so far, but we had a glorious week of sunshine and 75 degree weather and I couldn't resist sharing a little bit of our warmth with you. Oh, how I wish I had a convertible! Borrowing that, I took my laptop outside and worked by the pool. Heaven.
Speaking of work, I'm heading out of the office for a few days and don't expect to have an internet connection. I might be surprised. If that's the case, I'll be back on Monday as usual. If not, I'll catch up with you next Thursday.
Have a great weekend and keep leaving those comments so you have a chance to win an advance copy of COURTING TROUBLE. I expect them to arrive any day now!
P.S. News flash just in: LADY made the CBA Bestseller list again! This time, #17! (Bev Lewis and I tied.) God is good!
